Income Tax Calculator
Estimate your Indian income tax under both the old and new regimes, including standard deduction, rebate and cess.
About the Income Tax Calculator
An income tax calculator gives you a quick, clear estimate of the tax you owe before you file. This tool applies the Indian income tax slabs for the new and old regimes, subtracts the standard deduction, applies the section 87A rebate and adds the 4% health and education cess.
Compare both regimes side by side to see which is more favourable for your income, then plan your investments and take-home pay with confidence.
How to use the Income Tax Calculator
- Enter your annual gross income.
- Choose the new or old tax regime.
- Click Calculate Tax to see your taxable income, tax and effective rate.
How the calculation works
Tax = sum of slab rates on taxable income
Total = (Tax − rebate) × 1.04 (4% cess)
Under the new regime income up to ₹7 lakh is effectively tax-free thanks to the rebate; under the old regime the limit is ₹5 lakh.
Example
On a gross salary of ₹12,00,000 under the new regime, after the ₹75,000 standard deduction the taxable income is ₹11,25,000, giving a tax of about ₹62,400 including cess.
